Ouch.
Well.
I had planned to write a very eloquent post today on the true meaning of Christmas and keeping it all in perspective. But my Oldest had different plans for me.
I woke up from my Traditional Sunday Afternoon Nap to a weeping 12 year old, in from riding his bike. Guess he did an endo (“end over end”) on his moutain bike trying to avoid a collision with his friend. He landed on his right arm and broke the radius right in two.
3 1/2 hours in the ER later and a temporary splint until the swelling goes down, he’s doing fine.
So needless to say, my day will be spent keeping him comfortable, calling to make an appointment to get the cast on and picking up copies of x-rays…and decorating, in my spare time.
But I’ll be back for that eloquent post in a few days. And pictures of The Broken Radius.
Oh, and Merry Christmas.

Oh no! That had to be a rude awakening!
Poor kid. We haven’t dealt with a broken bone yet (knock wood), so I can only imagine how fun your Sunday evening was.
I hope he feels better soon.

Ack! Hope he’s doing better today, and not in too much pain!

Oh, Nicole! I feel that. This didn’t just happen to your son, it happened to you (and your family). I’m so sorry. We’re dealing with a son on crutches here; I know these things change the dynamics of the holidays. May your son’s pain subside quickly, and a complete and perfect healing take place.

Poor baby!!! I hope he is able to brag about it soon! Battle scar and all… Hang in there! Who’s turn next – Ben or Bur?

Oh, Nicole! I saw your mention of this on Facebook and meant to comment, but got distracted. So sorry to hear about your “Oldest!” I hope he recovers quickly and comfortably…
